The Eagle Pass City Council held a special meeting on Monday, October 30, in which they voted in favor of the second reading to a proposed ordinance to regulate the transportation, storage, record keeping, and proper disposal of used and scrap  tires.

   The dangers of having an accumulation of tires were disastrously brought to light in Odessa, Texas on April 9, as approximately 100,000 used tires caught fire.

Maverick County Commissioners Court discussed and took action in awarding a request for proposal contract for scrap tire disposal and transportation during their meeting held on Monday, February 13.
